Uppsala University is a comprehensive research-intensive university with a strong international standing. Our mission is to pursue top-quality research and education and to interact constructively with society. Our most important assets are all the individuals whose curiosity and dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting workplaces. Uppsala University has 42,000 students, 7,000 employees and a turnover of SEK 6.7 billion.
The Division of Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics within the Department of Physics and Astronomy is recognized for its world-class research on matter and processes at the atomic level using advanced spectroscopy in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) and X-ray regimes. The division has a leading position in the study of atoms, molecules and condensed matter, both in exploratory investigations on light-matter interactions and in application-driven projects, in particular materials, surfaces and interfaces with applications in the areas of energy, environment and advanced technology. Our research themes include :
Studies of Molecules and Liquids
- Molecules – From atoms and molecules to clusters and biomolecules
- Liquids – from basics to environmental molecular science
Studies of Functional Materials
- Magnetism – Spintronics and dynamics
- Energy Materials – Conversion and storage
Development of X-ray Based Methodology
- Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering
- Ambient Conditions Photoelectron Spectroscopy
- Time-Resolved Photoelectron Spectroscopy with High Resolution and Sensitivity
Experiments are performed in the home lab as well as at modern synchrotron radiation and X-ray free-electron laser facilities
