The position is affiliated to the Child and Baby Lab (www.babylab.se) at the department of psychology. The lab includes some 30 researchers and PhD-students that investigate children’s motor, cognitive, and socio emotional development, both experimentally and through individual differences. The Child and Baby Lab has a strong international focus and has been rated as a world-leading lab on numerous occasions (KOF-07 and KOF-11).
Project description: The current project includes a longitudinal study where we follow 120 children from 6-months of age to preschool and investigate how cognitive and socioemotional factors are related to each other during early development. The focus for the current PhD position will be to use data from the longitudinal study to investigate the development of socioemotional abilities and their relation to family and parent factors. In addition, the PhD position may include studies in different cultures to give additional information about the role of cultural context to the development of infants’ socioemotional development.
To qualify for a doctoral position in Psychology at Uppsala University, the applicant must have a master´s degree either including or in addition a minimum of 90 Swedish study credits in psychology. Applicants who have obtained qualifications equivalent or comparable to the criteria described above abroad are also eligible to apply. Other qualifications: Experience from assessing, investigating, or testing children and/or entire families in a research or a clinical context is desirable. An undergraduate degree in clinical psychology, or similar, is also desirable. Good IT knowledge and technical experience is considered a qualification.
The sucessful applicant will be supported by an employment as a PhD for 4 full years and primarily engage in research. Other work at the Department such as teaching and administration can optionally be included (max 20%).
