The Department of Informatics and Media has a broad research profile, focusing on current research topics and societal challenges, among other, information systems, human computer interaction, and media and communication. The Department of Informatics and Media offers Bachelor and Master programs and courses within the Faculty of Social Sciences. The department turnover is approx. 60 million SEK. The department has 60 employees.
Duties: The researcher will be working in the project Social relationships in the network society, financed by FORTE, and in SIRG, Stockholm Internet Research Group. Three main areas are in focus: 1) the relationship between online/offline in social relationships 2) varying opportunities and responsibilities for men and women concerning managing family ties using communication technology 3) the limitations and opportunities for social relationships that digital technology affords. The project aims to understand how individuals of varying age and technological proficiency maintain close social ties drawing on the internet and other digital technology and how users/non-users experience the relation between digital tech and interaction with others.
Requirements: The holder of a position as a researcher must have a PhD degree or equivalent. Good written and oral proficiency in English is required.
Additional qualifications: In selection among qualified applicants, particular emphasis will be placed on research skills. When assessing academic qualifications special experience of the topic will be assessed. Previous experience in working with qualitative analysis of interview data and/or quantitative analysis of survey data is an advantage. The applicant’s ability to fit well with the work group is an advantage. The ideal candidate is academically motivated and can work both independently and in a group.
Candidates should come from the social sciences or other closely related subjects.
