The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer Courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 70 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit http://www.pcr.uu.se.
The department is now looking for a researcher for a temporary position, during the period 180701-181231.
The researcher will work in the project "International Intervention and Protection of Civilians", led by project leader Lisa Hultman. The project examines third-party interventions in civil war, with a particular focus on evaluating various types of efforts to reduce violence against civilians and deal with violent conflicts with devastating consequences for the civilian population. The researcher will conduct independent research related to the topic of the project, but is also expected to collaborate with others in the research group and perform less administrative tasks within the framework of the project.
• PH.D. in political science or peace and conflict research
• Experience working with data on political violence
• Expertise in analyzing spatial data
• Excellent English
• Experience in data collection on peacekeeping operations
• Experience in working in Stata and R
