Uppsala University is a comprehensive research-intensive university with a strong international standing. Our mission is to pursue top-quality research and education and to interact constructively with society. Our most important assets are all the individuals whose curiosity and dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting workplaces. Uppsala University has 42,000 students, 7,000 employees and a turnover of SEK 6.7 billion.
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University invites applications for a temporary researcher position in theoretical physics, specialization holography. The position is initially for one year and may be extended to a second year, upon satisfactory performance. The starting date is Sept 1st, 2018.
The candidate is expected to develop the subject of holographic dualities in several directions: i) the study of integrable irrelevant deformations in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence, ii) the study of conformal correlation functions in momentum space and their application to non-relativistic holography and to holographic cosmology. He/she is thus expected to have a strong background in the AdS/CFT correspondence and the holographic renormalization method.
Prerequisites: The holder of a position as researcher must have a PhD degree or equivalent. Well-documented research experience in the holographic correspondence is required. Experience in working with conformal symmetry in momentum space is considered to be of advantage.
Employment Period: The period of employment is 1 year. Extension to a second year may be possible, depending on performance. The starting date is Sept 1st, 2018.
The application should contain a letter describing the applicant and her/his qualifications and research interests. It should also contain an up-to-date CV, copies of relevant degrees, contact information for at least two reference persons, and a full publication list. Personal circumstances that may be of relevance in the evaluation, for example periods of parental leave, should be mentioned in the CV.
Uppsala University strives to be an inclusive workplace that promotes equal opportunities and attracts qualified candidates who can contribute to the University’s excellence and diversity. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and from people of all backgrounds. The department strives for a more even gender balance in its research and teaching staff. Thus, female applicants are especially encouraged.
