Our mission is to pursue top-quality research and education and to interact constructively with society. Our most important assets are all the individuals whose curiosity and dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting workplaces. Uppsala University has 42,000 students, 7,000 employees and a turnover of SEK 6.7 billion.
The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 200 employees and has a turnover of 200 million SEK. At the department's six programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international cooperation and we see continued good growth in our subject area. The department has education assignments in engineering and civil engineering programs and master's programs.
The researcher will be part of “Molecular Devices for Artificial Photosynthesis”-group within the physical chemistry program. The program which is highly recognized internationally is part of the Department of chemistry – Ångström Laboratory, within the chemistry section at Uppsala University. The group is situated in a modern building at the Ångström Laboratory.
Duties: The candidate will prepare organic polymers and study their performance with regards to hydrogen generation from water. The research will be performed in collaboration with several researchers and researchgroups in Sweden. Specifically, the collaboration involves organic chemists as well as biochemists for the design of new components, and physical chemists for advanced spectroscopic measurements. The project will be performed at the division of Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry – Ångström Laboratory.
Requirements: The applicant is expected to have a PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent, with a physical chemistry component. A high level of written and spoken English as well as the ability to work in a team is required.
Additional qualifications: Experience in polymer synthesis and/or organic chemistry is highly meriting. Additionally, experience in photocatalysis, surface functionalization or biochemistry is advantageous. Previous postdoctoral experience or equivalent is desirable.
