Postdoctoral position – Secure and self-powered signal processing and control over wireless networks
Sort on published: 2019-04-10
Uppsala University is a comprehensive research-intensive university with a strong international standing. Our mission is to pursue top-quality research and education and to interact constructively with society. Our most important assets are all the individuals whose curiosity and dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting workplaces. Uppsala University has 44.000 students, 7.100 employees and a turnover of SEK 7 billion.
The Department of Engineering Sciences is one of the largest institutions at Uppsala University and conducts research within a number of different technical subjects. The department has approximately 360 employees and has its activities at the Ångström Laboratory and Campus Gotland. The position is at the Signals and Systems division, The Angstrom Laboratory.
Duties: To conduct original research in the area of signal and information processing and feedback control design over wireless sensor networks, in particular
- design and analysis of secure and resilient networked estimation and control subject to malicious attacks such as denial of service, data integrity and eavesdropping attacks,
- dynamic game theoretic algorithms for strategic, and resilient system design , and
- integration of self-powered (energy harvesting) sensor networks in wireless control systems – aiming towards design and development of harvesting aware stochastic estimation and control algorithms under communication constraints.
Relevant areas also include distributed, decentralized, and event-triggered estimation and control algorithm design, e.g., with respect to wireless control applications.
The duties include theoretical analysis, algorithm design and implementation via software-based simulations, and documentation in the form of technical papers and reports. Participation in the undergraduate and/or graduate education and supervision of PhD students is also required.
Requirements: To qualify for an employment as a postdoctor you must have a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree. The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application deadline. The three year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.
This position requires a PhD in Automatic Control, Signal Processing or Wireless Communications with applications to networked systems or a closely related subject with high quality publications in the related area of signal processing, control and wireless communications.
Particular emphasis will be placed on a strong mathematical background (including stochastic control and optimization theory, game theory (desirable), and systems and control theory), and documented research experience in signal and information processing/control for/via wireless sensor networks.
Experience of theoretical and experimental work within the field is important, as is experience of extensive programming in MATLAB and preferably also in LabVIEW.
Uppsala University strives to be an inclusive workplace that promotes equal opportunities and attracts qualified candidates who can contribute to the University’s excellence and diversity. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and from people of all backgrounds.
