Uppsala University organises a range of activities for our international guests. Below, you can read about the programme that has been planned for the spring 2017.

WELCOME RECEPTION

Museum Gustavianum

The University Management cordially invites you to a Welcome Reception for newly arrived international researchers, lecturers, doctoral students and their partners.

Programme:

  • Welcome, followed by dinner buffet
  • Guided tour of the museum

”Uppsala throughout the Centuries”

 Why did Uppsala become one of the most important medieval cities in Scandanavia – a position it still holds into modern times? Join in our one-hour guided tour and you’ll get some glimpses of archeological and geographical finds and facts not to forget the fascinating historical events which have shaped Uppsala to the splendid city it is today! 

Place: Upplandsmuséet, the entrance

We’ll end the tour with a ”fika” up at the Cathedral Café where some tables will be reserved for FIF-members.

The aim of the seminar is to provide you with useful information about Uppsala University, working conditions and benefits and to give insights into different aspects of life in Sweden.

Open house in the collections

2 April, 11.00 – 15.00
Palaeontology building, Norbyvägen 22

For the third year in a row, Gustavianum and the Museum of Evolution are opening the doors to their collections housed at the Lagerträdet site. During the day, guided tours of the store rooms will be given in Swedish and English. Family activities on the theme of
”Scientific Investigation” will take place every hour on the hour. Come and see things you would normally not get to see!

The Making of Easter Decorations

Saturday 8 April, 15.00-17.00

We meet up international researchers, families, and friends, Saturday 8 April at Vindhemskyrkan in Luthagen (at the corner Vindhemsgatan and Geijersgatan) for the enjoyment of making Easter decorations together. There is also time for a ”fika”and a bit of chat. Perhaps the children would also enjoy an Easter saga (fairytale) in English?

Time: 15.00-17.00. (Bus nr 9 from the Town hall; bus stop Sverkerskolan, look up the location on Eniro.se)

Address: Vindhemsgatan 9, entrance from Geijersgatan. Look for FIF-sign.

Can you measure Easter?

This Easter holiday, children can learn about different methods of measurement through the exciting challenge of trying to measure Easter!

Free entry for children up to 19 years old and for employees at Uppsala University.

Aspiring to precision

A theme day about measurement and the pursuit of accuracy. Guided tours of the exhibition ”Aspiring to precision”, in English and Swedish, start every hour on the hour. Meet researchers who explain the importance of accurate measurements to modern
science. Activities for all the family.
