Learning outcomes

On completion of the course the student should, with some support, be able to:
• search and summarise scientific literature
• plan and carry out a scientific experiment
• analyse scientific facts
• present scientific results in written and oral form


The student will under the guidance of a researcher during 10 weeks participate in a specified project. By studying literature assigned by the supervisor, the student will obtain an understanding of the theoretical background of the project.


Laboratory work and self-study under supervision. Participation in seminars relevant to the subject of the project assigned by the supervisor. The teaching can be given completely or partly in English.


For a Pass grade, the student should fulfil the learning outcomes of the course. This includes presenting the project work as a seminar within the group where the work has been carried out. Furthermore, a report should be written and approved by the examiner. The grade passed or failed is given by the examiner after consultation with the supervisor.
