Content
To achieve the purpose of the internship, it is important that the intern has the opportunity to work on one or more relatively extensive tasks (investigations or project work) running for an extended period of time. Problem formulation, data collection, analysis and presentation of results are important components of the theoretical part of the programme. The internship should lead to increased employability.
Instruction
Placement The internship can be carried out at a public authority, organisation or company in Sweden or abroad that offers tasks of value to the intern's field of study and future work. An internship can only be carried out on a placement approved in advance by the department. It is the responsibility of the individual student to ensure that they obtain a placement. Extent The internship comprises half a semester (about 10 weeks) and is normally completed during the semester.
Assessment
To pass the course, the intern must satisfactorily perform assigned tasks at the workplace. After completing their internship, students demonstrate what they have learned through a written evaluation and an oral presentation at a seminar. The examiner is the person responsible for the Master's Programme in Languages. The grade awarded for the internship is either Pass or Failed.
Course level in relation to degree requirements
The course is normally placed in the third semester of the Master's Programme in Languages. The course does not belong to a main field of study. For specialisation leading to a 60-credit Master's degree, at least 30 credits in the main field of study are required, of which at least 15 credits should be for an independent project. For a 120-credit Master's degree, at least 60 credits in the main field of study are required of which at least 30 credits should be for an independent project.
Other directives
The course may not be included in a degree if equivalent components have been studied in another course included in the degree.
