Housing and financing
Uppsala University will guarantee an offer of housing to all fee-paying Master’s students and several other groups of students attending the university through collaboration agreements prioritised by Uppsala University management. This may include formal exchange students.
There are several different scholarships available to international students through Uppsala University, the Swedish Institute and the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 programme.
Application and Tuition Fees
Students who are citizens of a country outside of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are required to pay application and tuition fees to study at university level in Sweden. There are no application and tuition fees for students who are citizens of a country within the EU, EEA or Switzerland.
For students who are required to pay an application fee, the cost is SEK 900.
All students, regardless of whether they are required to pay application and tuition fees, must be able to cover their personal living expenses while in Sweden. To obtain a Swedish residence permit, students are required to have a minimum of SEK 7,974 per month. When you apply for your residence permit you must enclose a bank statement showing that you have your own bank funds available in an account belonging to you.
All students at Uppsala University are covered by accident insurance while on the university premises and on their direct way to and from school. Other international student groups may be covered by additional insurance. It is important for all students to find out what kind of coverage they will receive or need to organise privately before arriving in Sweden.
