Successful Alumni Reception in Minneapolis on April 11
14 April 2014
Uppsala University is a truly global university and our alumni are a very natural part of our global presence. Back in 2010 the first initiative was taken by our alumni in New York to start up a chapter in the US and now the plans are to set up another chapter in Minnesota.
On April 11, over 60 alumni and friends of the University took part in a reception at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Prof.
Leif Kirsebom, Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor on International Affairs welcomed everyone and gave a presentation about the development of Uppsala University, and Thomas Fredengren, Fundraiser informed about how the university works with external relations and the important role alumni can play in this context.
David Johnson, who is on the Board of the UU US Alumni Chapter talked about initiatives of the alumni body in the US and the upcoming work of forming a new chapter in Minnesota. Then the key note speaker Professor Robert Stein gave a presentation about the long-lasting cooperation between Minnesota Law School and the Faculty of Law at Uppsala University. This cooperation that started over 30 years ago has given the chance for hundreds of students, faculty and staff to come to Minnesota and Uppsala on exchange. Prof. Stein who is also a board member of the American Friends of Uppsala University spoke about the opportunities to support Uppsala University.
We would like to express our gratitude to the American Swedish Institute and especially to their President Bruce Karstadt for giving us the opportunity to have this reception in their magnificent centre.
