Travel to Uppsala

Arriving at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Stockholm Arlanda International Airport is located between Uppsala and Stockholm, 36 km south of Uppsala. An easy way to find transportation between Arlanda and Uppsala is to use the Arlanda website’s travel planner.

Airport coaches

The public transport company Upplands Lokaltrafik (UL) runs the airport coach route 801 between Uppsala and Arlanda. Buses depart twice an hour between 3 a.m. and 12 midnight.

Tickets can be bought:

  • At Arlanda Visitor Centre in Terminal 5 or at other information desks in Terminals 2 and 4.
  • At self-service ticket machines available at the bus stops at Terminals 2, 4 and 5.
  • By text message.

Payment by card is the only accepted payment method on board the coaches.

Commuter trains

Stockholms lokaltrafik (SL) commuter trains to Stockholm and Uppsala depart from Arlanda Central Station, located between Terminals 4 and 5. Total travel time to Uppsala is 18 minutes, and to Stockholm 38 minutes.

You can purchase tickets at Arlanda Central station, and at SL and UL sales points elsewhere. Keep in mind that you must pay an access fee when you get off the train at Arlanda Central station. If the fee has not been added to your ticket, it is paid at the ticket gate.

Taxis

Taxis leave from outside the arrival hall. The journey to Uppsala takes about 30 minutes and costs around SEK 495 (approx. EUR 55). Ask the driver for a fixed price (“fast pris”) in advance. You can pay by credit card or by cash.
