SANORD – Southern African-Nordic Centre
SANORD – The Southern African-Nordic Centre – is a non-profit membership organisation of institutions of higher education and research for all Nordic countries and southern Africa. The network´s aim is to support and promote Nordic and southern African cooperation. There are currently more than 40 members.
SANORD is committed to advancing strategic, multilateral academic collaboration between institutions in the two regions, as they seek to address new local and global challenges of innovation and development.
SANORD activities are based on shared fundamental values of democracy, social equity, and academic engagement, and on the deep relationships of trust built up between the regions over many years.
SANORD central office is located at University of Western Cape (UWC) in Cape Town, South Africa. Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson, Uppsala University, is a member of the SANORD board.
