SE Alert to be tested on Gotland on 7 September
SE Alert is Sweden’s new emergency alert system, designed to send Important Public Announcements ('Viktigt meddelande till allmänheten') directly to mobile phones.
Anyone with a smartphone can receive the alert which consists of a message, a loud audible signal and vibration. It sounds even if your phone is on silent mode. No app or registration is required.
On 7 September, at 15:00, SE Alert, will be tested on Gotland and in the Stockholm area. The test will take place in conjunction with the quarterly test of the outdoor warning system (Important public announcement, in Swedish: 'Viktigt meddelande till allmänheten' or 'VMA').
The test is conducted to ensure the system works when it is truly needed.
