Students

1. Traineeship or thesis/degree project?

Three different ways of participating in the Erasmus Traineeship scheme:

  1. As part of an internship/traineeship course at Uppsala University, where you spend 2–12 months on a practical placement at a company, a university or an organisation in Europe. You are registered for a specific internship course at Uppsala University (Uppdok) and the University will be responsible for the assessment and grading of the course. Your credits will be registered as ‘internship’, not as an ordinary study course. (For this alternative, fill in box 1 on page 3 of the Learning Agreement.)
  2. As part of a degree project. You are registered in a degree project course at Uppsala University (Uppdok) and the University will be responsible for the assessment and grading of the course. Your credits will be registered as ‘degree project’, not as an ordinary study course. However, you will be conducting field studies or collecting data at a university, a company or an organisation in Europe. Your degree project supervisor at Uppsala University has to approve the traineeship. Please note that you cannot apply for a traineeship grant to do your degree project at a university that has an exchange agreement with Uppsala University. If that is the case, you should apply for an Erasmus studies scholarship instead. During the traineeship you may not register for any courses at the host university. (For this alternative, fill in box 1 on page 3 of the Learning Agreement.)
  3. Outside of your ordinary studies and without a contact person at Uppsala University. You cannot receive credits for your traineeship but you should ask the graduation office to add a note in the Diploma Supplement to your Degree Certificate when you graduate. (For this alternative, fill in box 2 on page 3 of the Learning Agreement.) It is possible to do an Erasmus traineeship after graduation, but you must submit your grant application during your last semester at Uppsala University, while you are still a student. Please note that in this case, you will not receive any credits or a note in the Diploma Supplement. The entire traineeship period must take place within 12 months of your graduation. If you are going outside of your ordinary studies, someone from your department must confirm the academic relevance of the traineeship. (For this alternative, fill in box 3 on page 3 of the Learning Agreement.)
