Uppsala University has rich cultural offerings and large cultural heritage collections. The University’s cultural offerings are an important resource for research and education, but also for visitors and Uppsala residents. The doors are wide open to students, employees, alumni, the people of Uppsala and visitors. Every year, Uppsala University’s museums and gardens attract more than 400,000 visitors.

The Uppsala University Museum (Gustavianum), the Museum of Evolution and the University’s other museums have unique history of science and art collections.
Music. Orchestras, choirs, big bands, rock bands, brass bands... Uppsala has a rich music scene for musicians and audiences alike. There are four academic choirs, for example, and several orchestras. The Royal Academic Orchestra was founded as early as 1627 and is one of Europe’s oldest orchestras.

Uppsala University Library provides information resources for research, teaching and learning at the University. The physical and digital libraries exist in parallel. The collections are made available in various ways, including electronic publishing and digitisation.
Academic traditions. Uppsala University has many old traditions – symbols and ceremonies that have lived on and are both a natural part of academic Uppsala today and an important part of our cultural heritage.
