We are very happy to welcome you to an evening event with Uppsala Alumna Dr. Gunilla Jacobson!
Gunilla is the Deputy Director of the Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford (MIPS) at the Stanford School of Medicine. In this role, she works to support the scientific research programs, strategic planning, industry collaborations, clinical translation, and funding efforts related to the MIPS program. All work within MIPS is focused on innovations in the areas of precision medicine and precision health, with the goal of developing methods for early detection of disease, targeted and specific treatments of disease, and ways to predict disease in order to sustain health and prevent illness.
Gunilla has previously held several academic positions at Stanford University, Karolinska Institutet, and is a Docent in Chemistry at Uppsala University, Sweden. Her own research expertise lies in the areas of in vivo molecular imaging, and designing and synthesizing theranostic probes and biocompatible nanomaterials. She has published over 40 scientific papers and book chapters, and holds 13 patents related to her research.
Gunilla has over 20 years’ experience of translating research from academia, and of managing and driving research projects in both start-up’s and industry environments. At the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) she participated in research related to the lab’s mission related to nuclear security and biothreat reduction. During her time at Tokyo Electron (TEL) she was part of a start-up related to one of her patents on semiconductor technology, and was part of building and bringing a beta tool to the market.
Swedish semlor and drinks will be served. We hope to see you there!
