What happens within the staff group when a patient under obligatory psychiatric care becomes pregnant – and the father of the child is one of the carers? What do they talk about? What do they remember? What did they write in the medical records? These are questions posed in the video artwork Rekonstruktion - Psyket by Anna Odell, which is now being permanently installed at BMC. The artwork, a two-channel video, approximately an hour long, has been installed in a meeting pod, furnished with screens for viewing and a sofa for those who wish to experience the work. The pod is located near the reception and is accessible to students and staff, as well as the public during normal office hours.
Anna Odell was an artist-in-residence at the Centre for Medical Humanities in the autumn of 2023, and it was during this period that the work was created. The Public Art Agency Sweden purchased the video artwork, with the intention of installing it at Uppsala University. Now the installation work is complete.
