On 12 December, Renée Schink and Divertje Reitsema successfully defended their Master's theses in Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
Renée's thesis, "Teaching the Hard Lessons: Dutch History Teachers' Pedagogical Experiences with Teaching about the Srebrenica Genocide in the Framework of Genocide Education", focused on the opportunities and challenges that Dutch teachers face in the classroom when teaching this kind of sensitive topics.
Divertje focused instead on an analysis of fiction and its role for helping children of suspected perpetrators deal with traumatic family histories. This was done in the context of a thesis entitled "Writing about the Silence: How Children of Perpetrators Use Literary Fiction to Reflect on the Haunting Memories of the Indonesian War of Independence".
Hearty congratulations and good luck in the future!
