The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology is one of the most international, broad and distinguished biomolecular departments in Europe, comprising six research programs covering subjects such as bioinformatics, microbiology, and biophysics.
The Kasson group in the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology seeks a postdoctoral researcher to study influenza viral entry mechanisms to join our team. This project is funded by the Swedish Research Council. We are an international and interdisciplinary team of dedicated scientists who come from different backgrounds to study viral entry mechanisms.
Duties: Responsibilities are full-time research and mentorship of junior researchers in the laboratory as agreed upon, with all research time on influenza viral entry and mentorship and other development responsibilities taking <20% time. Will also include international travel to collaborating scientific sites and meetings as needed. This position will involve computational integration of simulation and experimental data using molecular dynamics simulation and statistical learning.
Requirements: PhD and scientific background in biophysics and/or virology, strong publication track record versus years of experience, and successful demonstration of scientific knowledge, learning, and ability to work with others as attested to by track record and assessed by interview. Strong programming skills and computational background are required, as is expertise in either molecular dynamics simulation of biomolecules and statistical mechanics, machine learning, or both. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English are prerequisites.
