PhD student in Indology or Indology with emphasis on Comparative Indo-European Linguistics

Research and teaching at the Department of linguistics and philology covers approx. twenty different languages and linguistic subjects as well as computational linguistics. These include Ancient Greek and Latin, Hindi, Swahili, Chinese, and many of the important languages and cultures in the Middle East. Comparative Indo-European linguistics and general linguistics are also part of the department.
Doctoral studies extend over a 4-year period during which the PhD-student will receive a salary as an employee of the department. Doctoral students are expected to engage in full-time study and research, and contribute to and participate in the department’s activities. Teaching and/or administrative tasks may be involved up to a maximum of 20%, which is carried out against an appropriate prolongation of the contract.
Project description: The PhD project should fall within in the area of South Asian languages or literatures, or alternatively in the area of Comparative Indoeuropean linguistics.
Requirements: In order to qualify for this position, candidates must have a master’s degree in Indology or in Comparative Indoeuropean linguistics, or equivalent.

The application must also include a description of the planned project (with a time-frame), CV, copies of academic certificates (including mark sheets), dissertations and other relevant documents the applicant would like to submit. Applications can be in Swedish or English.
