Three PhD student position in biogeochemistry/microbial ecology are available at the Department of Ecology and Genetics, Limnology.
The Department of Ecology and Genetics is an international environment with staff and students from all over the world. Our research spans from evolutionary ecology and genetics to studies of ecosystems. For more information, see www.ieg.uu.se.
The limnology program conducts research and teaching on the ecology and biogeochemistry of inland waters, from microscopic to global scale.

The PhD students will work in a collaborative research group focusing on the persistence and degradation of organic matter in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. The research spans across a broad set disciplines and fields of expertize, including analytical chemistry, geochemistry, microbial ecology, and ecosystem science. The overall aim of the research is to understand how the stability and degradation of organic matter is controlled by environmental factors, microbial functional diversity, and the diversity and composition of organic matter. The projects are funded by the Swedish Research Council, Formas (a Swedish Research Council for sustainable development), and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
