Researcher in dynamical systems

The Department of Mathematics conducts research and provides education at undergraduate to graduate level in mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics.The number of employees is 120, including 30 PhD students.The Department has three research programs: analysis and probability, algebra and geometry, applied mathematics and statistics.

Duties: Research and teaching (max 20%). The main purpose of this employment is to conduct research on the existence of quasi-periodic motion in the solar system with realistic planet masses. In particular, the 3-body problem with realistic parameters of Sun, Jupiter and Saturn will be studied. The aim is to prove that KAM theory can be applied around the observed orbits of the planets and to obtain quantitative lower bounds for the abundance of quasi-periodic motions nearby.

Requirements: PhD exam in mathematics. Documented specialist knowledge in KAM theory and computer-assisted proofs. 

Additional qualifications: Programming skills is of merit for the position.
