The position is located in Johan Elf's research group. We offer a stimulating multidisciplinary environment where you will work closely with experts in biophysics, programming, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. Our overall mission is to solve the scientific puzzle that describes the central aspects of life at the molecular level. For more information about the research in the Elf group, you are welcome to visit http://elflab.icm.uu.se/.
Work description: As a researcher in this project, you will develop, build, and use advanced optical methods to study biophysics and intracellular kinetics with high spatial and temporal resolution. The focus is on developing the optical technology for the implementation of the MINFLUX system, and other innovative optical methods, to be able to track individual molecules on the µ-second scale.
Required qualifications: We are looking for a candidate who has documented experience in designing and building advanced optical systems. You have a PhD in a relevant subject area, such as experimental physics, electrical engineering, biophysics, or other closely related fields. You have experience in FPGA programming, LabView, electrical engineering, and hardware integration. Since you will work with optical development in the rapidly growing branch of science that deals with the detection and tracking of individual molecules in living cells, you should be familiar with the latest optical methods in Life Science and the physics behind them.
