Research administrator, Department of Peace and Conflict Research

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 85 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. The department and the projects Societies at Risk and the ViEWS component of the Uppsala University DEMSCORE project (project leader Håvard Hegre), are now looking for a research administrator, for a permanent full-time employment, starting May 2022.

Duties

  • managing relations with IGOs and NGOs that use or consider using the ViEWS and Societies at Risk products, such as the UN, the World Bank, and government agencies
  • handling contracts and agreements with IGOs and NGOs, in consultation with the DPCR administration
  • managing the ViEWS/Societies at Risk websites and other outreach activities directed at the general public, through newsletters, policy briefs and twitter
  • coordinating the production of reports and background papers requested by IGOs and NGOs
  • writing content for reports, policy briefs, and background papers
  • coordinating the ViEWS expert survey in consultation with the team
  • coordinating the organisation of meetings/workshops/conferences
  • contributing to presentations/speeches to non-academic audiences
  • contributing to research grant applications.

Requirements

  • master's degree in peace and conflict studies, or related field
  • good knowledge of forecasting systems and research on political violence
  • experience and education covering communication through multimedia
  • basic familiarity with Python
  • good command of Latex/overleaf, Wordpress
  • excellent command of English, excellent English writing skills
  • experience in managing relations with policy makers and stakeholders in international organizations and government agencies.

About the employment
The employment is a permanent position (probationary period may be applied). Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date; mid-May 2022. Placement: Uppsala.
