The research group of Molecular Geriatrics at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences is located at the Rudbeck Laboratory. Our research is focused on treatment and diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases. The research is conducted in collaboration with other research groups internationally and in Sweden, as well as with various pharmaceutical companies

In our laboratory, we have previously identified three APP mutations causing Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Functional analyses of these mutations have enabled us to better understand disease pathogenesis and have provided novel insights that can aid in the development of new treatment strategies.
Duties
Main aim of this project is to study new disease causing mutations. Cell culture, ELISA, Western-Blot and other molecular analysis methods are used in order to achieve project goals. Research assistant also will be involved in the analysis of exome sequencing data as well as other ongoing projects within our group.
Requirements
Master's degree, within biomedicine, biological/chemical engineering, life science or equivalent. We require knowledge and experimental experience within molecular biology techniques, including cell culture and immunological analysis methods.
Additional qualifications
Knowledge of bioinformatics and public databases. Experience of DNA isolation and analysis including PCR/qPCR as well as mass spectrometry.
