Sustainable student projects
There is a broad commitment to sustainability issues among students and a pronounced desire to contribute to a greater extent in the work to reduce the climate impact of the university's operations.
Many students at Uppsala University get involved and start various sustainable initiatives. Below you can see some examples.
UTN's environmental group's ongoing projects
Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students has an environmental group that focuses on organizing climate-smart events for students!
They organize different types of events such as clothes swapping days, litter picking days, climate sit-ins and Green Week with sustainable companies and corporations. The environmental group also works with a project called Kli(mat)2 where they make cheap food boxes from scraps that are sold at the Uthgård union hall.
Feel free to follow them on Instagram and Facebook via @utnsmiljogrupp to get more information about their activities.
Climate Students Uppsala
Climate Students Uppsala (Klimatstudenterna) is a student-run association that works to get the University to reach the climate goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 15% between 2019-2023, to become carbon dioxide neutral by the year 2030 and stay below 1.5°C global warming. They have weekly meetings and activities for students who want to contribute to making Uppsala University more sustainable. #PracticeWhatYouTeach
Feel free to contact them via social media or email if you have any questions about their work or if you want to attend their weekly meetings!
