Arriving in Sweden

An Orientation Programme is arranged prior to each term start and provides students with information about all kinds of facilities and activities they need in order to make the most of their stay in Uppsala or Visby.

Try to plan to arrive during the Arrival Days. If you arrive in Sweden before Arrival Days you need to check with the Uppsala University Housing Office whether it is possible to move in before the date stated on your lease and how you can access student housing by emailing info@housingoffice.se. We can not help you with the pick up of your key to your accommodation outside of Arrival Days.

You should plan to arrive before courses start. If you cannot arrive before the beginning of courses, you need to let Uppsala University know. If you are coming through a university-wide exchange agreement, email mobility@uu.se. If you are coming through a departmental agreement, inform the department directly.

You can not ship luggage or boxes to Uppsala Universit before you arrive. For safety reasons, neither the Unit for International Mobility nor the Uppsala University Housing Office can accept any luggage or packages. You need to be present to accept packages or boxes shipped to your accommodation in Uppsala.

Arrival to Uppsala

A free bus service from Stockholm Arlanda airport to Uppsala University’s Welcome Center in Uppsala is arranged during the official Arrival Days. Try to plan to arrive at Stockholm Arlanda Airport on one of our Arrival Days in Uppsala so you can take our free bus service from Stockholm Arlanda airport to Uppsala. You can then visit the University’s Welcome Centre at Segerstedthuset and receive your Welcome Package. 

Unfortunately, we cannot offer transportation outside of our Arrival Days. See directions to get from Stockholm Arlanda airport to Uppsala. If flying, the closest airport to Uppsala is Stockholm Arlanda airport. Public transportation (train, bus) as well as taxis are available from the airport to Uppsala. If you arrive by train to Stockholm, you can take a train to Uppsala with two train services, SJ and SL. You can read more information on their websites: SJ and SL.

Arrival to Visby

Try to plan to arrive in Gotland on one of our Arrival Days in Gotland. 

Unfortunately, we cannot offer transportation outside of our Arrival Days. See directions from the mainland to Campus Gotland. Gotland is an island, which can be reached either by ferries or by domestic flights. See more information on getting to Visby, the town where Campus Gotland is situated.
