Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • thoroughly and systematically plan, conduct and document experimental work in a research or development project in materials for medical applications,
  • independently search, evaluate and summarise relevant theoretical information required for the implementation of the research or development project,
  • write a scientific report with conclusions based on the outcome of the project.

Content

Implementation of a research or development project in which knowledge from previous courses in materials for medical applications is applied and deepened. Students choose a supervisor in consultation with the examiner. Work is chosen in consultation with the supervisor and examiner, and a project plan, approved by the examiner, is drawn up.

Instruction

Project meetings with teachers and seminars.

Assessment

Project plan (2 credits), written report (6 credits) and oral presentation (2 credits) of project work. 

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
