Decisions and guidelines
The course is an independent course.
The course can be counted to the minor field Kurdish in a Bachelor's degree.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student for the grade Pass should at least be able to
*
read and translate Kurdish fictional texts;
*
translate and account for the contents in Kurdish news articles from newspapers;
*
summarise and comment on televised news broadcasts in Kurdish;
*
hold a conversation in Kurdish with Kurdish native language speakers about current events and social situations;
*
write letters and reports in Kurdish;
*
account for the fundamental features of Kurdistan\x{2019}s geography and administrative subdivision and cultures and way of live in the country.
Content
Reading of texts (non-fiction and fiction).
Practical language proficiency.
Work with understanding of audio-visual media (TV, radio).
Letter writing.
Factual studies about social situations in different parts of Kurdistan in connection with a stay in one of the countries where the language is spoken.
Instruction
The instruction consists of lectures, workshops and assessment.
The student's own learning activities are crucial for completion of the course.
Assessment
The students show the results of their learning through a combination of different forms of assessment,
which can be either oral or written.
They can take place at scheduled time and location (for instance within the framework of regular teaching), or be such that the student carry out alone.
Information regarding assessment will be announced at the beginning of the course.
Other directives
The course should preferably be taken at a language school in Iraqi Kurdistan which has been approved by the Department for this purpose.
The course may not be included in a degree if equivalent parts have been studied within another course included in the degree.
