General provisions

The course is mandatory for students attending the Master's Programme in the humanities, specializing in Gender studies. Students from other Master programmes are eligible for the course. The Centre for Gender research is responsible for the course.

Entry requirements

A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university.

Learning outcomes

The student should, after completing the course, be able to

- Discuss and describe different questions within the field of feminist cultural studies.

- Discuss and describe different methodological and theoretical approaches within the field of feminist cultural studies.

- Orally and in writing apply methodological and theoretical approaches within the field to different empirical contexts.

- Independently write a short academic text on a subject relevant to the field.

Content

The purpose of the course is to give an advanced introduction to feminist cultural studies. Important themes and theoretical questions are discussed, using research and empirical examples. A final paper, written independently, is due at the end of the course.

Instruction

The course will consist of a number of seminars.

Assessment

Assessment will be based on written and/or oral hand-ins and a final paper. Grades will be given in accordance to the Swedish grading system. The following grades will be used: Väl Godkänd, Godkänd and Underkänd
