About the course
Particle accelerators are the instruments for forefront research in high-energy particle physics and material sciences. The LHC at CERN is one example and the European Spallation Source ESS and synchrotron light source MAX IV that will be built in Sweden are another. The course addresses the physics of charged particle beams, especially how to accelerate and guide the beams, but also discusses the technical constraints that limit operational performance.
