About the course
The course deals with the generation and propagation of seismic waves in the earth. The wave equation in various forms, exact and approximate (numerical) modelling methods, including ray tracing and tomography are treated. Measurements of seismic waves using arrays and networks of seismometers are introduced and earthquake source parameters are determined. Macroseismic case studies are used to characterise earthquake risks and related phenomena.
