About the course
The course covers the basics of energy and energy systems. Occurrences, prospecting and use of fossil fuels. Nuclear power, fission, fusion and safety issues. Non-fossil thermal energy technologies such as bioenergy, peat, waste, and geothermal energy. Renewable energy such as wind, solar and hydro. Environmental consequences of energy production. Energy distribution and the role of energy in world economy and society. Energy security issues and geopolitics around energy resources. Future energy outlooks and scenarios.
