120 credits with 60 credits in chemistry incl. at least 15 credits in organic chemistry. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

About the course
This course discusses modern methods organic chemists use to build up molecules. The focus is on developments that have attracted considerable attention in recent years, that have solved important challenges in synthesis (e.g. chemo- or regioselectivity) or work in ways that go beyond typical textbook literature.
At the end of the course, you should be able to discuss several modern ways to form new C-C and C-heteroatom bonds in the context of organic synthesis. This includes selecting appropriate reactions in the context of planning a synthesis or solving a problem, discussing its mechanistic aspects and independently searching the research literature for relevant information.
