Entry requirements: Numerical Modelling of the Atmosphere, 10 credits. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

About the course

The course provides knowledge about the basics of data assimilations used in operational forecast models such as 3D-Var and 4D-Var. Furthermore, basic theory of ensemble modelling and various methods for evaluating probability forecasts are studied. Additionally, we review how seasonal forecasts are produced and assess their current quality.
