Entry requirements: 120 credits with 90 credits in earth science or biology. Principles of Palaeobiology, 15 credits, is recommended. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

About the course
This course covers the origin and divergence of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, their palaeobiology and ecology of major clades of unicellular biota and their evolution through time as well as applications in stratigraphy, biotic radiations and extinctions. The Phanerozoic evolution of the invertebrates and the plants are covered as and applied during a mandatory excursion - normally to Wales, Great Britain, in late September/early October and associated with a cost of 1250 kr for students. The course also contains practical work, such as microscopy.
