About the course

In this course, you will learn how to contextualise research questions and discuss different ways of analysing educational systems from ca 1800–2000. The aim of the course is to introduce you to the problems, processes and theoretical concepts connected to the historical study of the modern period. Special focus is given to the rise and development of social formations, the state, and institutions, as well as the concepts of power, social class, and gender.
