About the course

User Interfaces are designed with specific intentions and goals. Whether one is designing a heads-up display (HUD) for a console game or a front-end interface for navigating huge datasets, a good amount of planning, and testing is involved. This course will introduce you to the concepts and design processes inherent in designing user interfaces and facilitating good user experiences.

You will begin by scoping a project with User Interface (UI) diagrams and design briefs. Before delving into specifics, you will map your UI design at the systems level with attention to balance and patterning. As a point of reference, the class will consider a number of theories and architectural techniques for building UIs. With this knowledge, you will build assessments and target criteria focusing on the scaffold-making or wire/framing of your UI design.

Outline for distance course: The course is net-based and has no mandatory physical meetings. You will need a computer with an internet connection to follow the course.
