About the course
The course is intended for teachers of English at primary or secondary level or in adult education within the Swedish school system.
Central theories of language acquisition, especially relevant for young learners, are introduced and discussed during the course. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the Swedish National Curriculum for English and other regulatory documents will be analysed and processed through language didactive perspectives. Students will apply pedagogical models and techniques in their development of a communicative, creative and student centered practice in the English classroom. A module on genre pedagogy is also included.
The course contains an introduction to academic English, with a variety of oral and written assignments designed to improve the students' proficiency in analysing, summarising, quoting and referencing, discussing and presenting course content and literature through spoken and written English.
