About the Subject
Italian is related to French, Spanish and Portuguese and is the closest to Latin among the Romance languages. Italian is spoken by about 60 million people, a part from Italy, it is also spoken in southern Switzerland. As an archaeologist, musicologist or an art scholar, you'll have great use of Italian. Italy is also a significant industrial nation.
The education aims to improve basic language skills with focus, in the beginning, on grammar studies, training of the ability to converse as well as text reading which increases vocabulary and grammatical correctness. Along with studies in Italy's history, geography and social conditions. During the latter part of the studies in Italian, you'll find specialized courses in Italian culture, as well as in Italian Linguistics and Literature.
The two introductory courses, 15 credits each, give together specific eligibility to Italian A1. In the professional language courses is trained the ability to read professional texts, selected for the purpose. Some training in speaking and writing is included as well.
