About the Subject
What do we know about music and what do we want to know? Within the field of musicology, music is studied with a scientific and scholarly approach. Our goal is to gain a greater insight into all cultures where music has a place of importance. This applies to both contemporary cultures and those from past centuries. Research is conducted using several viewpoints and methods originating from history, ethnology and aesthetics.
Our courses are given on varying levels, including undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, as well as many courses for distance learning (available on-line). For those not only interested in the theoretical side of music, we also offer practical courses, such as counterpoint.
