Russian 2020/2021

Although close to Sweden geographically, Russia remains in many ways unknown for us Swedes. Russia is a country that is constantly fascinating, enticing and even frightening. It does not cease to fascinate with its outstanding cultural offerings in music, visual arts and performing arts and with its literary masterpieces that are considered world heritage. It attracts with human warmth and hospitality. It scares with its cruel history. By learning the Russian language, you will be in direct contact with the entire rich and enigmatic cultural treasure, while approaching an understanding its country and its people. Russian ranks among ten of the world's most widely spoken languages ​​with its 170 million native speakers in Russia. The language is also 'lingua franca' in Russia's immediate area, as well as in the most unexpected places in the world.

Russian is by far the largest of the Slavic languages. Together with Ukrainian and Belarusian, it constitutes the East Slavic language group within the Indo-European language family and is written with the Cyrillic alphabet. With its extensive morphology, the Russian does not allow itself to be easily conquered, but requires strenuous work, which, however, with time and patience gives rich reward. You will discover how soft and beautiful the language sounds and you will be fascinated by how malleable and functional it is.

Knowledge of the Russian language is required in many areas in society and gives you an advantage beyond the ordinary.
