Entry requirements:
120 credits including 45 credits in computer science or 45 credits in academic teaching and learning/educational sciences. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to describe fundamental concepts concerning how students learn computer science and about how the subject is taught. They should be able to account for different theories of learning and current research in computer science education and apply their knowledge in a study of an aspect of the subject.
Content
Introduction to computer science education research: learning theories, learning within computer science, research in learning computer science.
Research areas: First year programming, gender issues within computer science, critical theory, quantitative and qualitative research.
An individual project.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, and project work. Guest lectures.
Assessment
The course is examined through project, discussions and assignments.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
