Syllabus for Industrial Project Management

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

• give an account of and explain theories and tools used in the field of project management,
• assess appropriate planning and coordination methodology in relation to the project's scope and type,
• analyse projects and project execution from the perspective of different stakeholders within the focal organisation as well as external stakeholders from other parts of society.
• present a industrial project work within their field of technology

Content

The course focuses on planning, controlling and leading projects within several industrial areas. The course is also emphasising projects as an organisational form, the relationship between the project and the organisation and the connection between the scope of the project and the overall strategy of the organisation.

During the course, the student will theoretically learn about project planning, the project organisation, financial control and project management. Several real-life cases from the industry will be presented and professional project managers from different areas of the industrial sector will participate.,

Instruction

Lectures, seminars, excersises and feedback on project work. The course involves several guest lectures by representatives from different areas of the industrial sector.

Assessment

Written examination (3 credits) and project work ingroup (2 credits).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
