Learning outcomes

After passing the course, students should be able to

  • give an account of the structure and contents of the different ISO management systems for quality, environment and occupational health and safety, and be able to interpret the requirements for implementation
  • plan for and show how an integration of the management systems for quality, environment and occupational health and safety can be performed
  • plan for and show how implementation of the management systems can be achieved in an organisation
  • plan and carry out an audit of the management systems for quality, environment and occupational health and safety according to ISO 19011
  • describe the binding requirements and how these influence the management systems at a general level, and give an account of the connection to sustainable development.

Content

Basic concepts and definitions, principles and terminology for ISO 9000. Application of Quality Management Systems ISO 9001; Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management ISO 45001. The binding requirements in the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s Statute Book (AFS). Integration, introduction and audit of management systems. Audit according to Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems ISO 190011 through case-based organisation audit report and review. Case-based organisation as a study object.

Instruction

Lectures, exercises and seminars.

Assessment

Written assignments (4 credits), written examination (2 credits), seminars and case studies (4 credits).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may decide to make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the university's disability coordinator.
