After completion of the course the student shall be able to
describe the Earth's global and regional climate
explain the interaction between climate and landscape dynamics in global climate and environmental change
describe land use and climate i tropical areas
describe the heating of the polar regions and how this affects permafrost areas
explain the principles of energy exchange between the earth's surface and the atmosphere
The course reviews the following topics: regional climate systems across the globe; regional climate couplings to landscape dynamics and development; the dynamic landscape-climate system and land use under global change; local scale surface-atmosphere energy exchange.
Lectures, seminars, and independent study.
Written and oral presentation of results. The course is graded using a written examination, 6 credits, and compulsory activities, 4 credits.
