Learning outcomes

After passing this course students will be able to:

  • explain different stages within the construction of wind power projects
  • explain how operation and maintenance is planned for wind power projects
  • analyse a project’s lifetime needs and costs using relevant theory and practical understanding
  • create a detailed construction plan for a wind power project, including a logistical plan


The course introduces logistical theory and best practices for wind power project construction, operation and decommissioning. These are used to create a logistical plan which identifies and provides solutions for potential problems and risks of a project. In addition the course will identify key concerns and solutions for the construction and operation phases of a wind power project which are used during its planning, including health and safety issues. Included in this the lifetime operations and maintenance costs, both on and offshore, will be reviewed in both theory and practice.


Lectures, workshops and seminars.


Written and oral assignments 4 credits, active seminar participation 2 credits and written project report 4 credits.
