A Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or social science. Participation in Wind Power Development and Management, 15 credits. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
describe the most common aerodynamic, mechanical and electrical concepts for wind turbines and analyse their advantages and disadvantages for a given situation,
analyse the mechanical loads of a wind turbine,
make a conceptual plan for the operation and maintenance of a wind turbine,
describe and evaluate foundation, tower and turbine types with respect to terrain and wind climate,
write a report according to scientific standards.
Functional concepts of turbine technical systems. Aerodynamics, mechanics, electromagnetism, power and control systems. Choice of wind turbine, its configuration and placement with respect to site conditions. Wear, operations and maintenance. Sound emissions from wind turbines. Scientific writing.
Lectures and seminars.
Written hand-in assignments (3 credits)and a written project report with oral presentations (2 credits).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
The course can not be included in the same degree as 1TE729, Wind Turbine Concepts and Application.
